On Monday in Lom\u00e9, Compassion International Togo received the Social Governance Certificate at the 1st Value Unit (UV) level \u2014 a distinction granted by the Institut de Gouvernance Expertise Afrique<\/em> (IGE Afrique) as part of the West African Corporate Good Governance Prize. This recognition highlights the NGO\u2019s exemplary commitment to social management, transparency, human rights, and the improvement of working conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compassion International Togo<\/a> stood out among approximately ten Togolese enterprises, distinguished by its human-centered management practices, with a strong emphasis on staff well-being and the quality of its work environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis recognition is the result of relentless effort and collective commitment. This certificate validates our ongoing work to create a healthy, loving, and fulfilling workplace \u2014 not only for our staff, but also for the children and families we serve,\u201d said Rhoda Azu Sossoukpe, Senior Manager of Business Support at Compassion International Togo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Alain Glakp\u00e9, Human Resources Director at the organization, social governance<\/a> at Compassion rests on several strong pillars: social dialogue, employee participation in decision-making, mental health support, workplace safety, continuous training, and inclusion. He emphasized that these actions are not mere window dressing, but reflect a genuine organizational culture rooted in care and accountability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Social Governance Certificate for excellence…<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The evaluation process conducted by IGE Afrique was particularly rigorous, involving documentary audits, analysis of internal policies, on-site verification, and assessment of key indicators across social, environmental, institutional, and financial governance. To achieve certification, an organization must score a minimum of 0.8 out of 1 in each of these domains.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sitsop\u00e9 Kaglan, President of IGE Afrique, praised Compassion International Togo\u2019s performance, describing it as a regional model of excellence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis certification is far more than a symbolic diploma. It is a strategic tool that reassures partners, donors, and all stakeholders about the quality of an organization\u2019s management. The award is part of a broader effort to strengthen corporate governance across West Africa, at a time when social and environmental standards are increasingly critical to sustainable performance,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Compassion International is a Christian non-governmental organization that has worked in Togo for several years to promote the holistic development of vulnerable children<\/a>. Through partnerships with local churches, it supports thousands of children in the areas of education, health, psychological development, and spiritual growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Koffi Olivier Ahonon, National Director of the NGO in Togo, this distinction serves as motivation to go even further in advancing social excellence and organizational responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It should be noted that the Institut de Gouvernance Expertise Afrique<\/em> is an independent institution dedicated to promoting good governance within African organizations. Each year, it organizes the West African Corporate Good Governance Prize, which honors exemplary enterprises in the fields of transparency and governance \u2014 social, environmental, financial, and institutional.
